When I started to think about what exactly a redemptive enterprise is, I did some research and learned that it is a form of creative restoration. I thought that was really interesting, and that is when I stumbled upon Freedom Bakery. It is a bakery that started in Low Moss, Scotland, where they train inmates how to bake and give them almost like a restart to help rebuild their lives. This particular business venture really stood out to me for one specific reason. In our class, we talk a lot about redemption, and when we look back at the Lord and what He did for us on the cross, He paid the ultimate price for sinful men and women like us so that we could be fully redeemed and forgiven.
That is why I thought Freedom Bakery was such a powerful example. They are being the hands and feet of Jesus by showing love and grace, just like the Lord did for us on the cross. They are helping people who might not exactly know what true love and care really look like, and Freedom Bakery is actively demonstrating that. I think there is a huge takeaway from learning about this organization, and it is this: we can either sit back and hope that people will get better and understand the love that the Lord has for them, or we can get our hands dirty and be part of the movement of God so that the Holy Spirit can move in and through His people.
It is small ideas like this one that can become vessels that the Lord uses to reach His people, speak to them, and reveal Himself. That is why I thought this idea was so encouraging, because it really puts things into perspective. We are called to honor Him in everything we do and to allow the Spirit to move through us, both in our actions and in our words, so that we can help bring others with us to live with the Lord eternally.

This sounds like a really cool redemptive enterprise! I love the idea of training inmates on how to bake and restart their lives from scratch. This a cool idea to let them do something different and to help them become the hands and feet of Jesus!
