David Simnick has created a soap brand that has a social mission with the goal to give every customer the opportunity to care for those in need. With each purchase a customer makes at the personal care company, a bar of soap is donated to someone in need. Over 20 million bars of soap have been donated as a result of this mission-minded company. A really innovative part of this product is their “hope code” which they put on the back of all of their products. Each product has a code on it that can be entered into their website to see what project the customer is helping by purchasing one of their products.
SoapBox is making it easy to help those in need by simply making a purchase. Through their hope code, they provide new motivation to not only help others but buy their product. Soap Box has created a great way to be a profitable mission!

This is an interesting redemptive company, but I am not sure how much a difference donating soap really is. Are there lots of countries that need soap? What are the consequences of not having soap? How are they transforming the culture by donating soap? I like the idea, but I am not sold. As a side note, their logo seems quite bland, even for the area of business they are in. If they are supposed to be redemptive and creative I would expect more innovation in their design.
This is a very creative, redemptive organization that I wish I could read more about on this blog post. Cleanliness is something that we take for granted in the United States; I definitely understand and have seen the need throughout my travels in Africa and the Middle East. How did it get started? What brought this thought to David Simnick’s mind? What parts of the world are being impacted? What kind of projects are there using the “hope code”? I am glad you wrote on this organization and brought it to my attention!
I think this is a really innovative idea, especially with soap because that's something we use every day and don't think too much about. Even though we use soap every day to become clean or fight off sicknesses or germs, other countries don't have easy access to soap. I think it'd be interesting to hear about how someone got started with this and and what projects people are helping to support and where.
