Redemption in the Clothing Industry

Redemption in the Clothing Industry

One company that has become quite popular in the last few years is He Would Love First. HWLF is a Christian clothing and apparel company created by Casey Shultis. Creating clothing that has modern designs combined with Christian messages is the goal of the company, and their marketing strategies are top tier. In an interview with VoyageATL, Shultis tells of the inspiration behind his company, and how God really answered the questions Casey was asking himself.

“I was wearing a W.W.J, D. bracelet and a friend of mine asked me what it stood for. When I told him it stood for “What would Jesus do?” he looked confused. I knew that his only idea of “what Jesus would do” came from hate preachers that yelled horrible things at him on his way to class.

I thought he was going to ask me, “well, what would Jesus do?”. I started to scramble in my head and I didn’t know what my answer was going to be. He didn’t ask me but I left that conversation stunned that I didn’t have an answer for a question I have heard my whole life. I started to realize that even growing up in the church, I didn’t really know what Jesus would do. I used the think God was mad at me or just wanted me to fix myself, but that mindset had changed since I encountered His love. I simply asked God, “what would Jesus do?” and I felt like he put “He would love first” on my heart.”

HWLF shows how a college student with a bright idea was able to represent his faith through a modern clothing company, and really represent what redemptive entrepreneurship means. HWLF is now an unashamed company with Christian ambassadors who share their story and their faith with the world. Creating affordable, stylish apparel with a kingdom-minded message is what you will find with He Would Love First.

  1. I think this is a great idea and really cool that it was started by a college student! Aside from Grove City, a lot of colleges and universities lack any faith. In some schools, faith is even seen as wrong. I think we need more young adults willing to be unashamed and put there love for Jesus on full display. If Christians cower down to societies hate of them, then how are we going to spread the Gospel.

  2. I had no idea this was the story behind HWLF! The innovation that came from Casey’s experience is amazing. This is another example of a young college student who had passion for clothing and Jesus, and now business is booming!

  3. I really like this post, I hadn’t heard this story before and I love HWLF. Isn’t it interesting how just a simple conversation can give you a new business idea?

  4. Having a college student make the company is such an inspiration for all young entrepreneurs. and not only that but one that is Christ minded, which is unheard of in today’s modern era.
