This year, as our class project we decided to take on the task of helping a rural church that was a part of the Project of Rural Ministry. The Project of Rural Ministry is a program at Grove City College that works with rural churches to help them succeed. They do this in many ways. For example in the Entrepreneurial leadership class, we helped the Presbyterian Church of Jeannette. Through this course with Professor Smith, we were able to talk to the leadership of the church and create a game plan to help their church gain members, and engagement, and bring life to the church. This was an amazing experience. We separated into two teams and from there decided to take on two different aspects of the church. One group focused on the financial side and helped them create a partnership with a life skills program. We found different companies from local communities. This life skills program not only allowed the church to make a impact by providing servant evangilism, they also were allowing more individuals to learn about God, the church, and the programs they provide for the local community. The other group focused on helping create new after school programs for the area. They created programs for children who’s parents worked long hours and could not go home. At these programs the church would also be able to show children what the church is about and what they have to offer. Some of these programs included a music program teaching these kids instruments and allowed them to play with their friends. Another program was a sports program that taught and coached the kids as well. This was only one of the many churches in the project of Rural Ministry but this shows what types of programs and help the project provides.
