Ideos is a redemptive business that focuses on empathetic intelligence. They saw the increasing divide in America in politics and everything. Their goal is to show that showing empathy actually improves your ability to understand someone and have a conversation with them. They’ve done research, had podcasts, and created programs that exhibit how this is actually useful. I myself don’t know, but it seems like they do. They have videos on their IdeosInstitute page that say don’t put people in a box or church politics. They definitely are stepping on some toes with what they talk about, but they are doing it for the betterment of culture and society. They specifically have leadership programs so that you can dive into the greatest challenges in the culture today with confidence. Anyone can do that, and I think it would be very beneficial to ministers and business leaders. They have short term retreats or long term classes depending on how much you want to dive into the topic. Everyone I think should take these courses for a short time so that we can actively think about having good conversations that aren’t hurtful. The way they address it is good because it needs to be talked about and more people need to hear about things like Ideos. We are so stuck in our ways in America, and we need to be humble in talking to the people around us not like we know everything. Not putting people in a box of stereotypes is actually good. People think they are in them for a reason, and they do hold true for some, but think about those who don’t. They feel that they were seen in a positive light when they are really struggling or in negative light even though that stereotype doesn’t describe them at all. It is very good to think about these things and I’m glad to see that someone is out there trying to explain them in a new Christian light.
