The company of Chick-Fil-A is an incredible example of an organization that has and continues to demonstrate entrepreneurial practices. These practices are demonstrated in many ways. First, this company is closed on Sundays. This practice is out of respect for Christianity. It is entrepreneurial because Chick-Fil-A, being the extremely large and successful company that they are, were able to start something that most companies have not. Many would expect that it is all about profit and increasing their customer base. Although those aspects are important for this company, they hold the Sabbath day at a greater importance and because of that, have gained the respect of their customers as well. In return, customers stay loyal to their business and buy from Chick-Fil-A more often throughout the week.
Furthermore, they are demonstrating entrepreneurial and Christian practices through their great treatment towards employees. Many times, companies tend to practice poor treatment towards those who work for them. Chick-Fil-A is known to be a company who treats their fellow employees respectively and their workers have Sundays off.
Not only do they treat their employees with respect and care, but they also are very kind and welcoming to their customers. Upon visiting chick-fil-a, each customer is greeting with a smiling face ready to serve them. Further, once placing your order, their employees say “my pleasure”. This phrase that Chick-Fil-A is widely known for, truly demonstrates that it is their pleasure to serve other people, just as it is our pleasure to serve God. Alone, this phrase is a great redemptive strategy that Chick-Fil-A uses to remind themselves and their customers that everything that we do is for God. This powerhouse of a business has truly demonstrated how following in the footsteps of Christ leads to incredible success.
There is a reason people joke it is the “Lord’s Chicken.” Sundays off is a great way to treat their employees fairly. They also have thousands of dollars given in scholarships! High school-age kids are encouraged to pursue higher education and are rewarded with raises according to how many credits they get! My friends all work there so I know about some of the behind-the-scenes things CFA incorporates into their business model. They do a great job in hiring to protect the culture and image while keeping true to their Christian values.
