Martin Bionics: Redeeming Legs

Martin Bionics: Redeeming Legs

A Fallen World

Becasue we live in a fallen world, there is brokeness not just in our souls but in our bodies. There is disease, hunger, scars, and genetic disfunction. Another major problem is the loss of limbs. What does someone do when they lose a limb, especially a leg? The human life includes hours of walking every day, and working often requires walking.

Martin Bionics

Jay Martin and Blake Gudgel invented “NASA-inspired prosthetic socket technologies” to innovate the way prosthetics are made. They have taken special care to ensure the comfortability of the wearer, and have even included some leg suspension in their design to relieve some of the preasure. This new technology gives amputees a world of new opportunities in their everyday life. Martin Bionics is redeeming what it means to be an amputee.

Christians and Redemptive Technology

Martin Bionics creatively uses technology to redeem the hurt, broken, and needy. Christians in the twentith-century have a unique oppertunity to use new technology for the benefit of others. Innovation is waiting for the bold. God has given us the creativity to help the lost. Christians can now use modern technology with their creativity to further God’s Kingdom. Business does not have to be selfish, but it can be transformational and redemptive.

  1. The mission of Martin Bionics is to add value and comfort and purpose to prosthetics. As you wrote, “Martin Bionics creatively uses technology to redeem the hurt, broken, and needy.” I think this a wonderful venture, and I believe will be very successful. Helping and serving the hurt is a mission for Christians today, and this business is seeking to bring redemption into their mission which is so wonderful.

  2. The value and dignity of the customer is clearly seen in this business model. So many times amputees are given just what they need, but I love the intentionality of the comfortability and the design that goes above and beyond to increase mobility. I cannot imagine the pain of losing full mobility and I see how this organization brings back a lot of joy and hope to each individual using Martin Bionics.
